KFCF is beta testing Hey Google and Alexa skills.
KFCF is dipping its’ toes into virtual assistants. So far:
Google Assistant you can say “Hey Google, ask KFCF Radio to play” and “Hey Google, Talk to KFCF Radio” However the talk to KFCF Radio pauses, so you then need to say “Hey Google Resume” We are looking into the bug. At this point the phrases seem to be the only way that reliably works. If you are wondering why a simple Hey Google , Play KFCF Radio doesn’t work, it appears someone else has claimed that, (and I imagine would like to sell it to us ata high price as I see done with people who have squatted on kfcf.com) .
Alexa : You can enable the skill in two ways: 1. You can enable the skill via the Alexa app. 2. You can enable via voice command – “Alexa, enable KFCF Free Speech Radio “ This is only a one-time process: Then from further on you just need to say: “Alexa, Open/Play/Start KFCF” So far we’ve found you may need to tell Alexa “Disable KFCF” if you are getting KPFB (!) KPFA’s little sister in Berkeley. Then “Alexa, enable KFCF Free Speech Radio”.
